Comparing Temporary Car Insurance

InsureDaily will provide you with a range of quotes, based on the information you have entered / what type of insurance you have specified that you require.

We compare several insurance products from several insurers in order to obtain a range of quotes for you to choose from. We cover a wide variety of vehicle values and you’ll also have the option to add certain excess protection / reduction products.

What do we offer?

We offer Comprehensive Insurance cover from 1-84 days for cars. You must be 18 years of age or above and have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 6 months.

Some of the policies we provide even offer cover for drivers with up to 11 points on their licence. Whether you want to insure an additional driver on your car, drive someone else’s car, need European cover, require impound cover, are looking for temporary van insurance, are learning to drive, or are looking for different excess products (such as excess protection) InsureDaily has you covered. We must point out that not all the policies will offer Comprehensive cover.  For example, if you require Impound cover, this is Impound Release cover only. Also, most of our policies are for personal / business use except Impound cover too. You can see the full list of offerings / exclusions on our website. Click here to find out more.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

It’s natural to have many questions when buying Temporary Car Insurance for the first time, or even the second, based on your circumstances and what you need it for. Here’s the answers to some of the more common questions we get asked on a regular basis:

How do I get Temporary Car Insurance?

To get Temporary Car Insurance with InsureDaily, all you have to do is visit our website, click ‘get a quote’, follow the instructions and read the T&C’s carefully and away you go. Please note, you must meet our acceptance criteria. All policy documentation and the insurance certificate are then emailed directly to your inbox after purchase. It couldn’t be easier.

Can I get a one-day policy?

Yes, you can get a policy for just one day. InsureDaily offers policies that range from 1-84 days.

Can I get temporary Van Insurance?

You can get temporary van insurance for anywhere between 1-28 days, and getting a quote and getting cover is just as easy as for a car.

Can I get Temporary Car Insurance as a learner?

You can get temporary insurance if you’re learning to drive too. With policies available from 1 day to 1 year in length, we offer a range of policies designed to suit your requirements. Whether you’re learning to drive in your own car or someone else’s. Please read the acceptance criteria carefully and ensure you have read and understood the T&C’s. This can be a great addition to your driving lessons as with extra practice, you’re more likely to pass your driving test.

Does temporary car insurance show on the MID?

It can take up to 7 working days for temporary insurance to show on the MID which, with short-term policies, can mean the policy will have expired before it shows on the MID. However, just because your cover does not show on the MID yet does not mean you are not insured. The best way to know if and when your car is insured is to check your documents after you have purchased insurance and to keep a copy of these on you or make sure you have access to them on your email. You can also print a copy of the insurance certificate and keep it with you in the vehicle, should you be stopped by the police.

Why is temporary car insurance so expensive?

Temporary car insurance may seem expensive due to the length of the policy however the risk is the same. Whether you’re driving a vehicle for 1 day or 1 year, there is always a risk that the unfortunate may happen – an accident. It’s worth noting however that the longer the temporary car insurance policy you purchase, the cheaper the cost per day of the policy becomes.

Is temporary insurance better than adding someone to my annual policy?

You could add someone to your annual policy on a short-term basis with most insurance policies, however doing so can affect the price of your annual cover and would affect your NCB on that policy. So, if you’re concerned about price and NCB (No Claims Bonus) then you can opt for a Temporary Car Insurance policy instead.
